Sailing for All

world record raceAccess Dinghy exists to "make a difference" to the lives of those people who are often the forgotten members of our community - the disadvantaged, the elderly, and the disabled. Access Dinghy is not about disabled sailing, but the inclusion of all people into sailing and addresses the issues of increasing participation of females in sailing.

Read about Access Dinghy's philosophy.

Because Access Dinghies are so appealing to non sailors they are helping reverse the downward trend in sailing participation. Factors contributing to exclusion which Access Dinghies address are:

- The perception by non-sailors that sailing is elitist, difficult and expensive.

- The sailing fraternity's failure to grasp the concept of "empowerment of the individual" through independence on the water. While there is a place for a person being taken for a ride on a larger boat - for most there is nothing comparable to the experience of skippering their own vessel.
