2004 IFDS Single-Person Dinghy World C'ship

THE FUTURE

IFDS World Single-Person Dinghy Championships

The Access Dinghy Class Association has requested approval from IFDS to hold similar World Single-Person Dinghy Championships in:-

Liberty under sail 2005 - U.K. - Rutland Sailing Club
2006 - China
2007 - Japan or USA

In future events, the configuration of these World Championships will almost certainly be modified as experience is gained. While the format of these regattas will most likely alter, the winner of the full servo assist division at each regatta will take home their Liberty as a prize.

Paralympic Games

IFDS is currently considering the introduction of another discipline for the Paralympics, in either 2008 in Beijing or 2012. There have been rumours that additional places would be available at the 2004 Athens Paralympics. This is not the case.

In the forthcoming years, IFDS will make exhaustive evaluations of the proposed disciplines as well as boats, before making a decision as to which discipline and class to adopt.

Commonwealth Games

Yachting Victoria has made a submission to hold a sailing event related to the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. The two classes sailed would be Laser and Liberty.
