2004 IFDS Single-Person Dinghy World C'shipBlairgowrie Yacht Squadron, Port Phillip, Victoria, Australia Blairgowrie is a little SE of Sorrento (Map).
Blairgowrie is situated approximately 85 kilometres from Melbourne on Port Phillip Bay. It is a small town with a seaside village lifestyle. There is a protective sea wall along part of the beach front to inhibit erosion. Port Phillip Bay has over 260 kilometres of unspoilt coastline, ranging from pounding surf to tranquil beaches. The WeatherThe Mornington Peninsula offers a temperate climate, with mild winters and warm summers comprising of cool sea breezes. Temperatures average around 24 degrees C with highs expected in summer up to 35 degrees C. The average yearly rain full for the Peninsula is around 750 mm per year with the most rain falling in our winter months of June to August. The Championship, in January, is in the Australian summer.
